What is the importance of daily stationery items in office works

importance of daily stationery items in office works
Stationery has historically meant a wide gamut of materials: paper and office supplies, writing implements, greeting cards, glue, pencil case etc. With the opening up of the economy, the top, and not only premium products, entered the market while high priced ones are being sold in small, unassuming way-side stores. One thinks of any global brand and it is here. These include designer and status symbol pens, be it Parker, Cross, Mont Blanc or Cartier.

The market for writing pens is estimated at 1600 to 2400 million pieces a year. By value, the total market for writing instruments is estimated at Rs 22 billion and is growing at around 8 to 9% annually. The informal sector's contribution to the market is placed at over Rs 6.6 billion or 30% of the total market by value and 65% by quantum. While by numbers the low-end market accounts for 90%, the premium and top-end segment accounts for less than a percent. The balance is accounted for by the moderately priced mid-priced products.

Indian stationery market is one of the fastest growing markets with rising per capita expenditure on education. Increasing expenditures of Indian government on the educational sectors and support for new start-ups has significantly raised the demand for stationary products for schools and offices. More than 80% of Indian stationery market is unorganized and most of the domestic demand is being fulfilled by the local market players which is a quite alarming situation for organized players. However, stationery market in India is now showing organized growth, as a result of remarkable increase in demand for the stationery products. This growing demand can be   attributed to the entry of large number of international stationery brands in India. The Indian stationary market is majorly distributed by the educational and office stationary products, in which educational sector holds the major market with more than 58% revenue share.

What are consumable office stationery?

Consumables (also known as consumable goods, non-durable goods, or soft goods) are goods that are intended to be consumed. Consumables are products that consumers use recurrently, i.e., items which "get used up" or discarded. For example consumable office supplies are such products as paper, pens, file folders, Post-it notes, and toner or ink cartridges. This is in contrast to capital goods or durable goods in the office, such as computers, fax machines, and other business machines or office furniture. Sometimes a company sells a durable good at an attractively low price in the hopes that the consumer will then buy the consumables that go with it at a price providing a higher margin. Printers and ink cartridges are an example.

Why they are important?

Having the right office supplies is essential for the day to day running of our business. Objects such as pens, pencils, paper, calculators and other office equipment such as printers, need to be available for our employees to work productively and efficiently.

Office stationery is something that we tend to take rather for granted a lot of the time. It’s there, and although it’s useful, it’s not something that most of us think too much about – we use it and we’ll notice if it runs out, but that’s about it. Unless, of course, we are the one responsible for keeping it all up to date. However, there are some important reasons to use good quality everyday office supplies for our business, so let’s take a look:

Professional Appearance

When we use good quality office supplies, we give a good representation of our company. It may be that our customers and clients don’t come to our office that often, if at all, but even if no one is going to see what office supplies we are using, they will see the result. They may receive post from us, for example, and if that is sent in better quality envelopes and printed on higher quality paper then they will most likely receive a good opinion of our company.

If we use daily office supplies as a method of branding for the company, awareness and marketing of our company would be easy and will be done for less money by printing company’s logo and name on stationery product.
When we brand our office stationery, we can make sure that we use our company colors, or even the logo if there is space to do so. Having email address and phone number (as well as company name) is also a good idea. If we don’t do this, we are missing out on a great chance to boost our identity to many more people.

More Efficient

Office supplies for business including stationery, paper, toner for printers and photocopiers, and everything else that is used by the majority of people on a daily basis need to be on hand at all times if we want our office to be as efficient as it can be. Without the right equipment, it’s hard to complete any task given to us. Having everything to hand, and plenty of it, will allow people to be much more efficient and productive. It’s a small measure but something that can make a lot of difference.
